Macs 1 Well, I finally made it to Mac's.  Mac's has been open since 1955 and has been in the BBQ business since '46.  They're only open 11-2 which has made it tough for me to visit but today I had the day off so went to check it out.

Entering the restaurant, there isn't much to look at but it is quaint and clean (a good sign they focus on the meat).  I was welcomed with a friendly "come on in!".  The place has about 10 little tables with a few decorations on the wall.

Your order is prepared behind a small counter, near the condiments and a cash register.  I ordered "The 3" (brisket, sausage, ribs) plus the standard beans and slaw.  I was pleasantly surprised with all 3!  The brisket compares with some of the best I've had in D/FW.  Very juicy and tasty.  Good enough to eat without the sauce.  The ribs were good as well.  They were on the meatier side and not quite falling of the bone but tender and good.  The sausage, was good as well.  A nice change from the almost standard Rudolf's sausage you find around town.  Beans and slaw were a notch above average.  I like the BBQ flavor the beans had.  Reminded me of the Baby Back Shak's beans a little.  The sauce was a notch above average as well.  A medium thick sauce with zingy/sweet taste.

Bottom Line Overall I was impressed with Mac's Barbecue.  Definitely in the top for D/FW.  I'll be back.
